Spoiled people expecting 4K video and non handheld. Some of us are just happy to get a blog post or two, and it’s a bonus that one includes a video. 😀

This is just absolutely awesome, Steve. There’s going to be no better replica model once you’re done. Even in CGI, when al you’re working with are photos, you have to get to a “close enough” detail level. Your details look great, very appropriate for the model. You know it was built using similar techniques and, as you said, some kit bashing. That’s just how it’s done.

I was just remarking to some online friends who also do CGI recently about how great the effects in movies like the early Star Trek films hold up because they’re done with physical models. You can look at something like that, or the early Star Wars stuff, or 2001 and it still looks great to this day. Look at stuff like some of the early CGI effects for movies and TV, which are great for their time, but don’t hold up to this day. Physical modeling always wins. 🙂

You are getting quite a 2001 collection. I know you were tired after a long day and possibly high on some fumes, so we’ll forgive you neglecting to mention the HAL 9000 thing for your computer room when you ran through your collection. 😉 Do you still use that 2001 themed screensaver? That was sweet too.
