SNG Daily Pictures 6-5-14

All the lighting is now in the Enterprise. She needs to have the windows scratched out next. I only did a few to prove the strip lighting inside was doing the job. It is. But now it’s time to do the Aztec paint job before that and scrap the pain of the windows after that.

What follows after all those steps is to make the structure solid to itself closing off all the joins and fixing all the light leaks and touch up the pain.  The last thing to do is the decals. The base has to be lighted too and pained and finished off.

Remember this one was cast in all clear plastic. So no drilling and filling were necessary in order to get the windows. Only drawback is every time you accidently scratch it or a clamp digs in you get a light leak easily fixed with a bit more paint.

The Skydiver is slowly shaping up and all the parts have been filled, sanded and preened. The fins have been blended to the engines. Brass pins run through them for strength. She’s really starting to look clean. Monday I start putting the panel lines back.

Master and commander Belt buckle

I want to thank Jim Boyle again for doing these Master and Commander belt buckles for me. He made 5. Adam Savage has one. I have the other three and I have been trying to sell the others. Jim only made 5 and they are cannon to the movie. I would like to sell one or two and send the funds to Jim for the huge effort and craftsmanship that went into them. You should visit his studio site too to see his fantastic work and store. http://ramshornstudio.com/

Finally got one of mine on a buckle and wear it proudly! A Classic movie prop you can wear.

The double picture is the frame grab from the movie and the replica.

SNG Daily Enterprise D Progress

Lot done on the D and no small feet either. I’m trying to keep as many lights down as possible inside and drive the majority of them from an internal single source. This cuts down on heat and resistors.  With the fiber optics hooked up to that single source I also gain the benefit of having the actual lights  at the correct scale size and not have those over powering bright lights as well. We have a much more cannon look.

I just started scratching out a few windows to make sure that the strip lighting inside is doing the job. They are. What I have do next is do the aztec masks and pain then I can scrape off all the paint on the windows and paint some black.

Keep in mind if your only looking at the pictures and not the video as so many do I’m not missing marker lights or strobes. The pictures just don’t catch them somethings because the pictures are taken in between the blinks.
