This is the way modeling has to adapt as an art within the next five years. 3D print as an in-house skill is much easier to master for an individual getting started and considering money/time invested.
Or someone looking at a half ton of cast off casting that has to be gotten rid of.
For model makers though this should be a welcome revolution. It was never the stuff coming off the line that justified premium custom pricing.
Now the hidden cost of making stuff out of the box suitable for further detailing is going away.
And that means a better revenue profile to get some orders in… 😉
