Hey Steve, thought I would share another idea with you and see what you think. When I do a build with lots of small windows I do my finish paint, and then do the windows. Of course when doing it this way you must drill and file the windows very exact, I like it because I don’t have to mask all the windows. Also when taping the outside in prep for making the windows great care must be taken to burnish the tape or the acrylic will leak out and damage the paint. Personally I’m to lazy to mask every single little window, so this is my technique. I did have a couple of questions for you. First, where do you get those brass tubes for the stands? Second, could you do a step by step video on doing decals?

Brass tubes are K&S from the local hobby store. You can find it at hardware stores sometimes too.

I may do that on the decals some time but I have me hands full right now John.

I’ve tried the windows that way John but screwed up the paint too. So masking for me is the only way.

      Thanks though!

I usually get all my brass from Westlake hardware. It’s much cheaper than what the Hobby stores charge. I didn’t spend much to get most of the sizes of round and square tubing.

I’m currently building voyager my self. Well its built and lit I used a similar thing for the windows but mine came in a tub and is like a thick laquer but drys clear. I have however botched the paint job I’m just not happy with it the underside looks great but the top is just too much colour contrast in the pannels so i’m sanding it all back and starting again.
