More on the Enterprise

It took me the better part of the day to simulate the nacelle effect. What I did is actually build a Lightwave model of the mechanism they used back then with a rotating cage in front of 25 Christmas lights and a reflector. Then a lot of experimenting with motion blur, cage speed and vector blur. Oh and a little bit of Digital fusion. I changed the windows from just glow to actual images inside the windows and adjusted the textures some more. Tomorrow I have to add a few more missing parts and change the NAV light that aren’t NAV lights on the under side of the saucer to just clear.

Here’s a couple of more interesting images. It’s getting there.

Enterprise nears finish

A couple of more hours and she’s done. She has every single marking and color of the original model. Still there are a few adjustments.

I’ll get some brightly lite 3 views tomorrow.

Back to my CGI Enterprise

Well I went to Doug Drexler’s Blog today and got inspired once again to finish this CGI model I made from scratch in Lightwave and do some animation with it. I’m finishing off the markings and texture. Got about another day and then it’s time to decide what to animate and make it fun.

Stayed tuned….

Nautilus first run

Tested her in the pool today and in the night with the lights on. The boat ran very well and BigDave’s Cylinder gave her more freeboard than I had hoped for. She was easy to trim. Dives easy and the variable angle prop really works great.
Thanks to BigDave and Bob Martin for all their help and support. And Voodoofx for the lighting!

Nautilus build

Just made this for a customer. She’s radio control and a diving boat. Kit came from the Nautilus Dry Docks and Bob Martin. Great kit. 31 inches long. VooDooFX lighting package. Video in a few days of her running in the pool.
