More updates

I’m cutting a new longer trailer for Foo fighters and it should be posted next week. Lots of thrills and visual effects scenes.

The X-1 needs decals next and it’s done. It was white primered before the international orange was applied just like the real X-1s that were sent to Edwards. Originally they were just white and painted over with the orange for higher visibility. It worked because the color is exact although these pictures make it look a bit off. Some day light pictures once I get the decals on should show the color better.

The Mercury capsule is coming along great and most of the model is built. But I plane to do a bit longer build on the interior and add extra scratch built parts missing from the kit.

Foo Fighters and models

Foo Fighters is really looking good. I have edited the film as far as I can go. All the way to the end and got my first look at the entire feature today. I have to do some pick ups and add a bit more CG. We have a one day shoot for the pilots at the crash site. Tomorrow I’m making a new trailer which will show a vast array of the different things from the film. Aliens and all.

Tonight before bad time I got a bunch more done on the Mercury capsule. Tomorrow night the X-1 gets it’s primer and a bit more on the Mercury.

Such a good time!

1/12 Mercury Capsule

This is another gift I received from Gilly for Christmas. And while things set up and dry on the X-1 I figured why not start it. As soon as it’s done I can finish the 1/350 Enterprise.

This has to be the best model ever made of this capsule. Big. Accurate and even the panels can be lite. All the components come apart so every part of this vehicle can be seen. Just getting it started. Lots of pre-painting before I can do assemblies.

More as I go along.

1/48th scale Bell X-1

Always one of my favorites and I have built three flying RC versions in the past. This last Christmas Gilly got me this 1/48 scale model of the Bell. It goes together quick I did all this in one evening before bed time. Landing gear retract, nice interior. All the gear and bays are painted. Cockpit painted. A little gap filling and orange paint and she’ll be done.

Hard to see the nice interior cockpit in these pictures.

1/32 scale Radio Controlled VIIC U-Boat

I built this 7 ft long 50-80 pounds wet WW2 VIIC U-boat last year. I have only recently finished the ballast system with the help of my friend BigDave. The 25 year old kit came from my good friend Matt Thor. These kits are long gone and can only be found in the rafters of old garages and that’s right where this one was found.

It was in bad shape. Started poorly but never finished. Restored and finished, now she waits her first patrol. As soon as the weather improves here I will test her in my pool before I take her to the lake.

When I got into RC subs it was always my dream to have a large scale German U-boat from WW2 more than any other. Thanks to Matt and BigDave it’s a dream come true.

With any luck next week will be dry and sunny for her trials. I’ll post pictures and video.

Foo Fighters Update

I have edited to date up to an hour of the movie. It is going well but there’s much left to do of course. 90 % of the CGI is cut in. I will have the end of the movie cut tomorrow. We will do the last two days of live action shooting soon to fill in the few SCENE MISSING black holes.
